Holy shit, I did it.
I don’t know why I did, but I kept going back to this game over the past... month and some change, I think. I was frustratingly close many times. But I finally did it today while waiting for my son to do some stuff.
My gut tells me that if this had been on a keyboard I would have beaten it sooner. Although that’s not what it was, so I have to assume the quirks of the touch controls were taken into consideration. To make the game harder, I’m sure, but nonetheless I persevered. Eventually, I won.
Talking much about the game spoils figuring it out. But it’s just a cruel platformer. What was fun was watching the ending credits and seeing ways to die that I never found in the game. Turns out it was even meaner than I knew.
There’s a sequel, and I’ll play it. I kind of respect the monetization behind these games.
You can play the “hard mode” (one life) for free. You can unlock a mode with lives for a small fee, and the more you die and clear rooms the more experience you earn and leveling up adds more lives. There are still ads after every game over, which can be tiresome when you are resetting a lot to try to optimize early rooms. But I understand. Mobile is a rough market.
I had fun, though, and completing it was extremely satisfying. That’s good enough for a game.
