Between my long playing sessions of Dragon Quest Heroes 2, which is so much better than the first but I digress, I have been playing They Bleed Pixels. I first saw it at AGDQ2015 and when it popped up in one of Steam's unknowable boxes on sale, I decided to spend my trading card earnings on it.
I am unsure if I hate this game or myself. I keep playing it even though some segments have taken me several half hour attempts to get through.
There is a meter which fills up as you collect these balls (of blood?) and kill enemies. When full you can stop moving to create a checkpoint. Unless there is an enemy or obstacle in the way. More often as the game goes on, I will find myself making it through a difficult segment, having a full bar, and finding a spot to rest my fingers and realize a checkpoint is not allowed because the developer put a spinning blade just close enough deep within a wall. A little "Fuck you."
Which I respect. I hate it, but I respect it.
