I buy cookies, coconut sables to be precise, for less than a dollar. There are about 35 cookies in a pack. A glass of coffee milk and some programming or a video game and the cookies will disappear. All thirty five. No thought, just cookies. I bought some yesterday. I put half on a plate and the rest away. I ate them. I felt as satisfied. I ate the rest today. Still satisfied. It seems I could have cut the amount I ate today in half, even, and still been satisfied.
The question is how many halves could it be cut into before the satisfaction is minimal to the point of frustration? Two or three cookies, perhaps? Six? More cookies did not make me happier, though. There is a hard limit to joy.
