Looking at the video game birthdays-in-Japan app as I do everyday, I noticed something super weird. I was not the only one.

Let’s take a quick look at this list:

  • NFL Quarterback Club
  • NBA Jam Tournament Edition
  • GOLF MAGAZINE PRESENTS 36 GREAT HOLES STARRING FRED COUPLES
  • Alien Soldier
  • Ecco the Dolphin CD

  • Taiho Shinden (No article even on Wikipedia! Looks like a Mega CD game.)

Super Famicom

  • Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S Kurukkurin

Twenty seven games released today in 1995 between these three systems. Playstation games were coming out in 1995, but alas, none on this day[ref]Nor listed at all in this application, although I can see why they would pick a few consoles and stick to just that.[/ref].

I did some digging around in both English and Japanese but I have absolutely no clue why this happened. A fluke? It must have been bananas in stores trying to stock all these different games and handling, well, everything that goes in with it.

Going to do some more digging and see if I cannot find anything.
