Although the 3DS VC releases have been at one game a week for the past while, the Wii U side is picking up. There is only one purchase for me this week but one of the titles is tempting. Plus, another slight theme! Be on the lookout for it.
Wii U VC
- Space Manbow (MSX): ¥800 (Not available on Suruga-ya.)
- Final Fantasy 4 (Super Famicom): ¥900 (¥200 cart-only on Suruga-ya)
- Elevator Action (Famicom): ¥500 (¥860 cart-only, ¥2980 in box on Suruga-ya)
I never heard of Space Manbow before, but hey if you bought it on the Wii VC, discount time. This otherwise MSX-only shooter features a mambo-fish shaped ship, which is the inspiration for Mambo and Sambo in Konami’s Parodius games.
I am happy to see FF4 make it over to the Wii U side and hoe 5 is coming soon. Before this year’s Fiesta would be great as more options for places to play are an obvious plus. As I begin to find my carts worrisome, these purchases become more assured each time.
And last we have Elevator Action. Fun as hell but I just cannot help but think that there are better versions to own.
- Bio Miracle: Bokutte Upa (Famicom): ¥500 (¥8600 box only on Suruga-ya)
Well, there are some savings here today. I am tempted to pick this up just because hot damn. ¥8600. I am pretty sure I have seen this in the cases. This 1988 title was originally on the Famicom Disk System and its 1993 cartridge release is fairly rare. I see one cart on Yahoo Auctions for ¥3000 and a FDS version at the same price, but the rest of the carts look to be going for about ¥10,000 or more, especially if everything is included.
So did you figure out the theme? Yup, Bio Miracle is another Konami game that has its influence on the Parodius series. That’s two weeks in a row with subtle connections between releases. Likely to be two coincidences, but still neat.
