Some weeks make the dribbling of Virtual Console releases feel like a waste, while others feel like an overload of good stuff. This week has three games that I am sitting here tempted to not drop ¥2200 on. Also? Surprise theme.
Wii U VC
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Famicom): ¥900 (¥1890 in box on Suruga-ya)
- Marvelous: Another Treasure Island (Super Famicom): ¥800 (¥850 in box on Suruga-ya)
A Link to the Past for ¥900 is dirty, Nintendo. You know we will buy it. You could have put it on sale a week before its sequel came out last year and raked in cash at a couple hundred yen. But you are smart. You will rake in cash now with this. The game is worth it though. Just look at how much it costs in box, used.
My Let’s Playing partner Alex had constantly been telling me to play Marvelous. It is a top down Action RPG that seems influenced by A Link to the Past. Also, guess who designed this? It was his first game. And now he is pretty much All-Zelda-All-The-Time. Yup. Eiji Aonuma.
- Final Fantasy 2 (Famicom): ¥500 (¥170 cart only or ¥420 in box on Surugaya)
Uh. Yes, please. I may be one of the few who genuinely enjoys Final Fantasy 2, but portable and save states? How does that not make this great?
