Progress on subaku versus mode

So I dug into Game Center's matchmaking and stuff today and with about eight hours of work I have my iPad and my iPhone 4 playing back and forth against each other. Considering I had never touched any of this prior, I am pretty happy with how it has come out so far. There are a few kinks to work out, such as getting notifications to be fancier and making sure that the games proceed properly but the bulk of the work is done.

How the versus mode is going to play out exactly is teetering between a few different ideas at the moment. I would like to come up with something that can be played a bit quickly as the big problem that I always had with asynchronous games I played on iOS was that the games felt like they would go on for months even with fairly frantic playing. That really killed any longevity they might have had for me.

So there are a few ideas I have. I will be testing them out over the next few days and generally making sure that everything works as it should and then it should be on its way to Apple. I think this will be the complete version of subaku after that. I may tweak things from here on out, but this will be the last mode that I wanted to add. I have other games I want to get working on but I do enjoy working on subaku and seeing how it has come since its first release in March makes me really, really happy.
