Seventeen games, two replays. Not shabby. I didn't pick up a whole lot of stuff this year but I did beat most of it. A few big huge backlog victories with me finally beating Super Mario Bros. and Kingdom Hearts II. Chrono Trigger and Rockman 2 are still two of my favorite games.
Bravely Default was easily the game I enjoyed the most but Bayonetta is the game that I would have never expected to have enjoyed, never mind beat. Theatrhythm was also a huge surprise as I was expecting it to just be a cash in.
On The Rain-slick Precipice of Darkness Three was my "naughty" game as it was in English. (Oh no.) I do want to see this series to the end. It was fun, but something kind of bugged me about it.
Lots of reading this year with visual novels galore. I kind of wish I never played Corpse Party because it still gives me the heebie jeebies. Steins;Gate was amazing. Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru was a really enjoyable read as well. Princess Tomato was awesome to play in the original Japanese.
Super Mario Land 2 and Wario Land 4 were weird, weird games. Such neat twists on classic platforming, however. Pushmo was a breakaway awesome puzzle game.
Two games that I went into worrying that I would hate, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Fire Emblem: Awakening, both ended up being extremely enjoyable. XIII-2 was a great improvement over its predecessor, which I already enjoyed. FE:A managed to do enough right to make me not hate another Strategy RPG.
I played a lot of good stuff in 2012.
